Right now the Hammer Museum in Westwood is presenting a career retrospective devoted to the painter and musician Llyn Foulkes. The Hammer credits Foulkes with work "that stands out for its raw, immediate, and unfiltered qualities." KUSC reporter Michael Linder visited Foulkes at his studio in the Brewery artist colony. You'll hear that interview on Arts Alive. Below: Foulkes gives Arts Alive a concert on his "Machine," a one-man instrument consisting of horns, bass, organ pipes and percussion.

Next Friday at the Skirball Cultural Center, South India meets the American South when blues harmonica player Corky Siegel joins South Indian violinist, composer, and conductor Dr. L. Subramaniam for a global fusion concert. On Arts Alive this weekend, we profile Corky Siegel in advance of the concert.

Film critic Kenneth Turan stops by to give his take on a new film and Dean Rob Cutietta takes on a musical mystery in Ask the Dean.

ARTS ALIVE AIRS SATURDAYS AT 8AM.
THE SHOW IS AVAILABLE AS A PODCAST AT KUSC.ORG AND ITUNES
AND STREAMS ON STITCHER
