Bringing Israel's Influential Batsheva Dance Company to LA
UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance has announced their 2014-15 season and it includes two performances by the Israeli dance company Batsheva. When Batsheva stops by Royce Hall in November, they'll be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a program called Sadeh 21.
Shane Scopatz is a Santa Barbara native who has danced with the Batsheva Ensemble since 2012. I had a chance to speak with him recently in Tel Aviv about about his background and the movement language called Gaga, pioneered by Batsheva's Artistic Director Ohad Naharin.
