Kenneth Turan Takes on "Not to be Missed" Film Favorites

Posted By: Gail Eichenthal · 6/12/2014 8:46:00 AM

Sometime between writing reviews for the LA Times, attending the world’s major film festivals, serving as the film critic for Arts Alive and tweeting, Kenneth Turan found time in the last several months for a particularly personal project (and fast read for movie buffs): a new book called Not to be Missed: Fifty-Four Favorites From a Lifetime of Film

Here's our recent conversation about some of those fifty-four favorites.

Here's a peek at some of the films that Turan says have had the biggest impact on him.

I like this particular list because Mr Turan has let himself be personal such that the titles are not merely apparently all top-notch, but more than just the "usual suspects" which we know by heart (such as "Vertigo" but I would've had to put it there, too).
Also, some new-to-me recommendations which is always fun for someone who has seen well over 3000 movies! I hope, for example, that "Les Fantomes" is all the fun it appears to be, among others. TCS
