KUSC at the Movies | February 8-12


We’re rolling out the red carpet for KUSC at the Movies, our annual tribute to your favorite movie music. The weeklong celebration begins February 8th, which just happens to be John Williams' birthday. And since he's the most nominated movie score composer in Oscar history, this year’s KUSC at the Movies includes a tribute to Williams. Each hour, you'll hear from one of his 50 nominated scores at the top of each hour, plus some of the other great scores nominated alongside his over the years. KUSC at the Movies and our salute to John Williams begins February 8th on KUSC and  


For more of KUSC's special insight into the movies during the lead up to the Academy Awards, tune in to Arts Alive on Saturday, February 13th at 8AM. This year's race for Best Score is full of interesting stories (Williams’ 50th! Ennio Morricone is back! Johan Johannsson is nominated for the second year in a row! Thomas Newman has been nominated 13 times, but never won!) and Brian Lauritzen will break them down with help from a film music expert Jon Burlingame.
