Pacific Symphony in Concert

Each month Classical KUSC brings you a Saturday night concert by the Pacific Symphony and Carl St. Clair, music director. These concerts come to you live from the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.  Rich Capparela is your host.

The next concert will be:

Saturday, February 25th at 8 PM

Daugherty: The Gospel According to Sister Aimee (2012) for Organ, Brass and Percussion (World premiere)
Barber: Adagio for Strings
Daugherty: Radio City (2011) Symphonic Fantasy on Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra in America (American premiere)
Tchaikovksy: Violin Concerto

Join KUSC, Pacific Symphony and virtuoso Vadim Gluzman as we explore Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto played on the actual instrument that inspired its creation!

The evening includes "Adagio for Strings" by Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer Samuel Barber. Also, the symphony premieres two new works from Michael Daugherty in his maverick brand of orchestral Americana: "Radio City," inspired by the NBC radio broadcasts of Arturo Toscanini, and "The Gospel According to Sister Aimee" featuring organist extraordinaire Paul Jacobs.
