Our Classical Californian this week is the Music Director and Conductor of the Long Beach Symphony, Eckart Preu. He’s got a selection of works that were formative as he grew up in Germany – with symphonic Brahms, Bruckner, and Hindemith, a choral gem from Heinrich Schütz, an operatic prelude by Franz Schmidt, as well as a cello concerto by British composer Anna Clyne inspired by a poem of Rumi.
